Institute recognises top Notre Dame marketing student
Outstanding performances by students of The University of Notre Dame Australia’s School of Business (Western Australia) were recognised recently at its annual awards evening. The event provides an important opportunity to formally acknowledge and congratulate the previous year’s highest-performing students.
More than 25 prizes and scholarships awarded, generously sponsored by leading Australian companies and institutions who are committed to encouraging excellence and rewarding students for their endeavours in their chosen disciplines.
The Australian Marketing Institute is one of the school’s sponsors. The Institute prize, ‘Emerging Marketer of the Year’ for 2009, was awarded to Sarah Sanders, a Bachelor of Commerce (with a double major in Marketing and Management) student.
Sanders’ prize, a one-year membership to the Institute, was presented to her by Ashley Whitworth, Vice-President of the Institute’s Western Australia Council. Sarah Sanders also won the 2009 Dean’s Award, which is presented to the most outstanding student in the School of Business.
Following the awards ceremony, the school hosted a cocktail party for students, staff and sponsors. Associate Professor Sonja Bogunovich, Dean of the School of Business, said: “The awards evening is an important event on the school’s calendar. The night provides a valuable networking occasion for the winning students, representatives of the companies and institutions who generously support us and our staff. Several opportunities for students have arisen since the evening, including an internship offer by Mr Whitworth’s own company, EmbroidMe.
“The School of Business appreciates the support and encouragement provided to its talented students by the Institute and other members of the business community.”
