EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT: ACT

AMI ACT PRESENTS

MORNING SEMINAR

EVENT NAME

Engaging Communities Online

EVENT DATE

Tuesday 13 April 2010

Web 2.0 offers all government agencies the opportunity to engage with customers, clients or stakeholders in ways that can add significant value to both policy development and program or service delivery.

Yet these technologies don’t come with a road map. Many agencies either don’t know how these technologies can be leveraged effectively, or are concerned the risks of such unstructured interaction would outweigh the potential benefits. Others argue they know customers think poorly of them – why would they want to give them a mouthpiece to express this?

Yet some agencies are pioneering in this space, showing that the benefits do indeed outweigh the risks. They are forging strong partnerships with customers, clients and stakeholders, and are using the insights gathered from Web 2.0 applications – such as discussions, video, blogs, polls and live chats – to actively shape their strategies from an informed, customer centric position.

In doing so, they are fundamentally changing how their organisation is viewed and valued by the community.

Join us to hear how government agencies, including the Australian Taxation Office and Old Parliament House, have tackled the opportunities, risks, and challenges of Web 2.0 applications head on and emerged with online communities that have delivered tangible value for their respective organisations.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand how Web 2.0 applications are being used to engage with customers, clients and stakeholders.
  • Learn about key challenges encountered, and how these have been addressed.
  • Understand how potential risks can be identified and managed effectively.
  • Identify factors likely to drive successful engagement outcomes.
