2010 Internships and the Harvey Norman Award

The Emerging Marketers South Australia Internship Program is now in its third year and in 2010 two new companies have come on board, Clemenger BBDO Adelaide and Mitsubishi, adding to the already impressive list of top SA companies – Shiels, San Remo, Channel 9 Adelaide and National Pharmacies. These companies will offer a chance for a marketing, communications or advertising student to see what it is really like working in a marketing department.

For your opportunity to win one of these internships you will need to enter by completing the appropriate brief below by 5 June 2010.

The competition to win one of these internships will be open to marketing and advertising students at Adelaide University, UniSA and TAFE and will require the entrant to submit a 1,000-word response to a brief, as set by the company.

The Harvey Norman SA Young Marketer of the Year Award will be run again for a fourth year but with a slightly different format. As in previous years, there will be a one winner from each of Adelaide University, UniSA and TAFE (who will each win a minor prize). These top three students will then have to formally present their plan to a panel, including representatives from Harvey Norman, the AMI Council and Emerging Marketers, in order to win the major prize.

Entrants into the Harvey Norman Award will also be invited to an information seminar, run by the Franchisee Director in SA, who will talk about how Harvey Norman runs its business and what it takes to work there. This will be a good opportunity to meet the top man in SA for Harvey Norman and who knows, it could lead to a job.

As a further development, each of internship and the Harvey Norman Award will become a part of specific semester one courses at Adelaide University, UniSA and TAFE (see brief forms below for more details).

Note that students not enrolled in these specific subjects are also encouraged to enter.

There are a couple of other rules too...

  • Students can also only enter one internship, but they can also enter the Harvey Norman Award, and
  • Students who won the internship at Shiels, San Remo, National Pharmacies or Channel 9 last year cannot enter those internships again.

All internship entrants will also be invited to a networking party in August where you will have a chance to network with employees of the internship companies. The winners for each internship will be informally announced here, and these winners will then be invited to attend the Marketing Week Award lunch where they will be formally announced in front of 200 of SA's top marketers.
