Kevin Luscombe

Kevin Luscombe
Executive Chairman of Growth Solutions Group, Board Member of APN News & Media and the Bayard Group

Kevin Luscombe is widely acknowledged as one of Australia’s leading marketing minds. His career background has covered senior corporate management and board roles in Australia, USA and South East Asia, and as owner and Chairman of successful marketing services companies in Australia. He won the Sir Charles McGrath Award for outstanding contributions to marketing, and has been awarded an Order of Australia for service to the advertising industry, to social welfare and community organisations through the provision of marketing advice.

Kevin is currently a board member of APN News & Media, Landis + Gyr Holdings, Melbourne Food & Wine and is a Trustee of the John Truscott Design Foundation. He has been a visiting fellow at Monash University and an Adjunct Professor at Swinburne University, and has served as Chairman, Director and Advisory Board member across a diverse range of not-for-profit organisations.

Michael Smith
Managing Director, Consumer & Corporate Marketing Director, Optus

Michael was appointed to the role of Corporate Marketing Director in November 2007. In this role he is responsible for one of Optus’ most value assets – the ‘yes’ brand. Michael holds a unique position with dual responsibilities as the head of Optus’ Consumer division as well as Optus’ Corporate Marketing Group. In his eight years at Optus, Michael has undertaken a number of roles across the business, including senior marketing functions for retail, customer insights and product management.  In other Optus roles, Michael has led the Business Mobility Group and was instrumental in the establishment of the Small Business Division where he led the marketing team.

Prior to joining Optus Michael spent 12 years with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, in a variety of senior roles in their retail and financial services divisions. Michael holds a Bachelor of Business Degree (Marketing and Employee Relations) from the University of Technology, Sydney.

 

Peter Maher

Peter Maher
Group Head, Banking and Financial Services Group, Macquarie Bank

Peter Maher joined Macquarie Group in November 2000 as Group Head of the Financial Services Group (FSG) and as a member of the Macquarie Group Executive Committee. In February 2008 Peter’s role was expanded to also include the management of the Banking & Securitisation Group (BSG), resulting in the two businesses being integrated to become the Banking & Financial Services Group (BFSG).Group-wide he is responsible for approximately 3000 staff, around 400 retail advisers and over $107 billion in funds under advice/ administration. Prior to joining Macquarie he was the General Manager, Marketing at Westpac from 1997 to 2000 and prior to Westpac he held marketing and general management roles in NZ across a variety of industries.

 

Trevor Amery

Trevor Amery
Chairman Subaru

Trevor Amery has more than 25 years experience in the automotive industry. He joined Subaru in 1990 as National Sales and Marketing Manager, responsible for developing the Subaru brand and building sales in Australia. In 1991, Trevor was appointed General Manager, Subaru Australia, becoming Managing Director in 1992. Further to his success as Managing Director of Subaru Australia, he was appointed Chief Executive of Inchcape Motors Australasia in 2000. He went on to become Chairman and Director of Inchcape Motors Australasia and Chairman of Subaru Australia and in 2006 was appointed to the international Executive Committee of Inchcape Plc. He retired from all executive responsibilities at Subaru & Inchcape effective 31st December, 2008.

Mr Amery was awarded the Australian Marketing Institute’s Sir Charles McGrath Award in 2005 for his significant contribution to the field of marketing. Mr Amery was a member of the Executive Committee of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) Importers Group until his retirement from Subaru & Inchcape.

 

Russel Howcroft

Russel Howcroft
Managing Director, George Patterson Y&R Melbourne

Russel Howcroft is Chairman and Managing Director of George Patterson Y&R. He is a permanent panel member of Andrew Denton’s ABC TV show “The Gruen Transfer”, and a regular contributor to Lindy Burns afternoon show on ABC 774 in Melbourne. Russel is also on the board of The Melbourne International Arts Festival, The Melbourne Football Club, and The Advertising Federation of Australia

 

Anthony Roberts

Managing Director, Wine, Lion Nathan

Anthony has been the Managing Director of Lion Nathan’s wine division since October 2006. Lion Nathan’s wine business comprises a collection of premium regional wine estates including Petaluma, Croser, St Hallett from the Barossa Valley, Stonier from Mornington, Wither Hills from New Zealand and Argyle from Oregon USA. Anthony has had over 15 years experience across many facets of the wine industry both in Australia and internationally, within Lion Nathan and previously with Yalumba Wines. Anthony began his career in Chartered Accounting with Deloitte.

 

Lynn Wood

Lynn Wood
Chairman, Noni B Ltd, Non-Executive Director of GPT Funds Management, Member of the Foreign Investment Review Board

Lynn Wood is Chairman of Noni B and a non-executive director of GPT Funds Management Limited, CEDA and MS Australia Limited. She is also a member of the Foreign Investment Review Board and a Syndicate Chairman for the CEO Institute. Her career includes senior marketing appointments in the retail and financial services industries. She has been a Marketing Director and Head of Marketing with American Express, Citibank, Schroders, Myer and David Jones. She also developed, managed and sold two SME businesses.

Lynn has an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management, University of NSW and an MA (Psychology) from the University of Sydney. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2003.

 

Prof Adrain Payne

PhD, MSc, MEd, FRMIT, FCIM, FRSA, Professor of Marketing, Australian Business School, University of New South Wales and Visiting Professor, Cranfield University

Professor Adrian Payne is Chairman of Brand Finance (Australia) Pty Ltd. and Chairman, Advisory Board, of Vectia Ltd. His previous academic roles have included positions as Academic Leader of the Marketing Group and Director of the Centre for Customer Relationship Management at the Cranfield School of Management, Cranfield University; Visiting Professor at the Scandinavian Institute for Management Studies; and Commonwealth Bank Visiting Professor at Deakin University in Australia.

 

Prof Mark Uncles

BSc (Hons), PhD, University of Bristol (UK), Professor of Marketing, University of New South Wales

Mark Uncles is Professor of Marketing at the Australian School of Business, UNSW. Professor Uncles’ previous appointments include the London Business School and Bradford Management Centre, and visiting appointments at the Australian Graduate School of Management and Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. He has published on brand management, buyer behaviour, consumer loyalty and store patronage in leading international journal and is co-author of The Penguin Dictionary of Business. Mark has worked on projects with professional bodies in Australia and the UK, including ADMA, AFA, IDM and IPA. As a consultant he has worked with multinationals, including Heinz, Unilever, Kraft, P&G and Shell. Mark is a Distinguished Fellow of the Australian & New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC).

David Kent is widely regarded as a leading international branding consultant. David has extensive consulting experience in brand strategy development, organisational brand alignment and brand management. David has 15 years consulting experience in company and employer branding and brand alignment, working with blue-chip multi-national clients in Australia, UK, US, Asia, NZ and India. Prior to establishing The Right Group in 1995, David was Marketing Services Manager for The Right Group’s foundation client, Bunnings.

 

David Haigh

David Haigh
Chief Executive, Brand Finance PLC (London)

David Haigh began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers in London, working as an auditor and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1977. David moved into the marketing services sector and set up his own marketing consultancy in 1988. He then joined Interbrand UK as joint head of its global brand valuation practice before establishing Brand Finance in 1996. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the ICAEW and a member of the UK Academy of Experts and of the Society of Share and Business Valuers. David was appointed as the brand valuation specialist on the expert advisory panel to the UK Inland Revenue in 2001 and has been an expert witness for the IRS since 1998.

 

Tim Heberden

Managing Director, Brand Finance (Australia)

Tim specialises in quantifying and leveraging the value of brands and other intangible assets. He has worked with leading brand owners in Australia, Asia and Europe, and also advises private equity firms and intellectual property lawyers. Tim advises the ATO on intangible asset valuation, and chairs the ICAA’s NSW Business Valuation Group. He is a judge on the AFA’s Advertising Effectiveness Awards, and the AMSRS’s Market Research Effectiveness Awards. Tim is a Chartered Accountant and Associate Fellow of the Australian Marketing Institute.
