Welcome

A continuing theme of Australian Marketing Institute Annual Conferences in recent years has been the changing face of marketing, often in response to challenges from the market, occasionally in response to challenges from critics of marketing.

The challenges continue. But over the past two or three years there are trends both inside and outside marketing that suggest the ‘marketing value proposition’ is gaining greater recognition. Through the course of our marketing metrics project, evidence has been emerging that both marketers and senior managers are paying more attention to measurements of marketing performance and that this in turn is helping show marketing as both accountable and productive.

To examine the trends and to highlight the challenges, the Australian Marketing Institute is very pleased to present our annual conference for 2008 Value Creation Through Marketing.

The conference features four outstanding International Keynote Speakers:

  • David Reibstein, The William S. Woodside Professor and Professor of Marketing at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, US.
  • Paul Alexander, Group Chief Executive Officer, Beyond Analysis, UK.
Paul has senior management experience in Australia and the UK and heads Beyond Analysis, a data-driven software solutions and advisory services business, with offices in London and Sydney.
  • David Haigh, Managing Director, Brand Finance, London UK.
David Haigh is the founder of Brand Finance which now has offices in 16 countries in the field of brand valuation and tracking the role and contribution of market-based assets.
  • Jonathan Sands, Chairman, Elmwood UK.
Elmwood is a brand identity consultancy based in Melbourne, London, Edinburgh and Leeds.

Plus presentations from practitioners across a range of leading organisations including:

  • Chris Richardson, Director, Access Economics
  • Michael Morrison, Centre for Retail Studies, Monash University
  • Ben Summons, Group Marketing Manager - Premium Beer, Foster's Australia
  • Michael Puls, Sustainability Marketing Manager, BP Australia
  • John Cracknell, Head of Country, Walt Disney International - Australia and New Zealand
  • Vincent Wijnen, Loyalty Account Manager, Myer One and Catherine Graham, Head of Direct Strategy, OgilvyOne
  • Kathy Hatzis, Head of Marketing Planning, Brand & Marketing, St George
  • Mandeep Grover, Marketing Manager Australia/New Zealand, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care

In keeping with our theme, the conference will see the official launch of our Marketing Metrics website, Marketing Value.

I hope you can join us for Value Creation Through Marketing.
