Penny Burke
Director, Essence Communications
Penny Burke is the Director of Essence
Communications and has worked in the field
of marketing and advertising for over 20 years.
Her experience crosses a range of sectors
from traditional packaged goods to services,
retail and social marketing and has led her
to be a true thought leader on the topic of
Commitment. She recently published her first
book Forced Focus – the Essence of Attracting
and Retaining the Best People, which explores
how to create a workplace brand that truly
encourages the best employees to commit. |

David Chalke
AustraliaSCAN
David Chalke is one of Australia’s leading
social analysts. Working with AustraliaSCAN,
the annual monitor of cultural change, David
advises governments and businesses on the
shifting sands of the mood of the public and the
impact of this on the formulation of effective
public policy and business strategy. David is a
frequent speaker at National and International
conferences, a regular social commentator and
an occasional columnist. |

Charlie Cochrane
Director, Ethnography Australia
Charlie Cochrane has over 20 years experience
in research, marketing and advertising in
both the UK and Australia. He has a degree
in anthropology from Cambridge University,
and has completed training in psychology
for professionals working with groups and
individuals at Spectrum in London. He has
conducted ethnographic research projects for a
wide range of clients including Channel 7 about
the role of the 6 o’clock news, the RTA about
young drivers and the risks they take, and Jim
Beam about bourbon drinking behaviour. |

Paul Fishlock
Executive Creative Director and Chairman,
The Campaign Palace
Paul Fishlock is probably the world’s leading and
most prolific advertising creative on tobacco
control. From the original ‘Every cigarette
is doing you damage’ in 1997 to more recent
campaigns such as mouth cancer, gangrene,
emphysema, if smoking was a friend etc, he
has written most of Australia’s memorable
anti-smoking work, which is recognised
worldwide as some the most effective ever.
In a distinguished advertising career he also
built his own agency (BMF) into Australia’s
largest independent agency and he is currently
Executive Creative Director/Chairman of The
Campaign Palace. |

Paul Gardner AFAMI CPM
Chairman, Grey Group Australia
Paul Gardner is Australian Group Chairman of
Grey Global Group as well as part of the Asia
Pacific Operating Group for Grey. Outside of
Grey, Paul is the Chairman of the Malthouse Theatre.
He is a former Director of both Open Family
and International All Sports Limited and
a past Chairman of the Royal Melbourne
Institute of Technology’s Advertising Industry
Advisory Committee. Paul holds a Bachelor of
Business degree from Monash University and
a Certificate of Securities from the Melbourne
Stock Exchange. |

Mark McCrindle
Social Researcher, McCrindle Research
Mark McCrindle was trained as a Psychologist
and his research into the emerging global
generations is now recognised internationally.
Mark is a Social Researcher and he is accredited
with the Industry’s highest accreditation
Qualified Practising Market Researcher. He
is the Director of McCrindle Research which
counts amongst its clients over 50 ultinational
organisations and 100 of Australia’s largest
corporations. His highly regarded research
and reports into the changing times and
emerging trends have developed his reputation
as a futurist, demographer and a social
commentator. |

Harold Mitchell AO
Executive Chairman,
Mitchell Communication Group
Harold Mitchell is Executive Chairman of
Mitchell Communication Group, the largest
media agency in Australia. He has a large
number of community roles including Board
Member of Opera Australia Council and Vice
Chairman of CARE Australia Corporate Council.
In December 2000 he launched the Harold
Mitchell Foundation. This is a philanthropic
foundation to distribute funds between Health
and the Arts. In January 2004 he was awarded
the Officer of the Order of Australia for his
services as a benefactor and fundraiser in
support of artistic and cultural endeavour. |

Gill Walker AMAMI CPM
Director, Evergreen Communications
Gill Walker is a director of Evergreen Marketing
Communications, the first advertising agency
in Australia and New Zealand dedicated to
building campaigns that motivate and resonate
with boomers and seniors. Before founding
Evergreen in 2003 Gill was Managing Director
for Sudler & Hennessey Australia (part of the
WPP Group of companies) and also worked
internationally with McCann Erickson. Gill is an
internationally recognised speaker and a guest
lecturer for the Masters of Advertising program
at RMIT University. |
